On the politics of mysticism, madness and revolution.

I have been meditating on the #Jozitostellenbosch walk. Can't help but recall the moment in which a bucket of feaces was thrown at the statue of Cecil John Rhodes at the University of Cape Town.
Many came out saying "this is madness" "how does this help us move forward" "This is illogical". Harsh critics were hurled at the group of protestors.

Today the must fall movement is a worldwide phenomenon, #Jozitostellenbosch
because you see there is something about symbolism that allows us to understand emotions as a political function. That there is an energy in symbolism that is able to permeate through society in ways that are novelty.

So what does it mean to reimagine and recreate modes of protests over and over because the world really demands from us of such? What does it mean for young people to walk from Jozi to Stellebosch in the midst of a pandemic and during winter, #Jozitostellenbosch
as a form of protest against capitalism & whiteness?

There is a lot to be learned about these kinds of moments beyond what makes logical sense to us. But also the spirit, energy that, that manifests is quite often more powerful. #JozitoStellenbosch
Understand that protest is a prayer and a meditation. Protest is a healing space, when and if you understand that, you will appreciate why madness becomes a norm in defiance. #JozitoStellenbosch
