Tabletop RPGers - I'm looking for a fantasy RPG that's old skool in terms of setting and atmosphere, but not particularly crunchy in rules - the kind of thing a group can pick up really quickly, and have fun roleplaying rather than min-maxing. Thoughts?
D&D 5e is nice, but I find the wealth of character options too fiddly. Which also rules out Pathfinder. I like BRP just because it's easy as a DM to wing a percentile system, but the combat mechanics are sloooowwwww.
I guess what I'm looking for is 'Heroquest, but as an immersive RPG'.
Bonus points if it has a lovely physical rulebook and a half-decent setting.
