So @realDonaldTrump campaign is running this ad. Not familiar with the image? Ok-lets do a history dive, shall we?
Now here’s where this ties in directly to the recent Trump campaign ad. As stated supra, Nazis used symbols to classify their victims.
I mean, gotta keep good records when committing mass murder and war crimes, amiright? Wouldn’t want to mix up your Jews and your Roma and your political prisoners when murdering them all in a systematic way so awful that it helped spur the creation of the ICC & UN as it is today
So, these symbols. Hopefully you’ve clicked on the links and done the reading, but if not: the symbol Nazis used to identify political prisoners in camps (like Dachau) was an upside down triangle.
For those of you not fluent in German or with crazy good eyesight, here’s a clearer image, translated:
Quick fact: notice the different colors of the triangles. Nazis didn’t just consider Communists or Social Democrats or other political party members to be opponents. There were also “social” opponents. Like LGBTQIA.
So, now compare that to Trump’s recent campaign ad:
TL;DR-Trump used a Nazi classification symbol used to classify political opponents during the Holocaust. This symbol was sewn onto the inmates uniforms in camps. He just used it in his presidential campaign. Think about that.
