in reference to that post of the white person saying "in japan they appreciated me appropriating so it's not real" yes. yes it is. this literally applies to every person of color but the experience american POC have vs the experience POC have in their own country is different.

POC in their country won't get made fun of like we do here for wearing traditional clothing/participating in our culture. because it's normal there. but in America kids get teased accents are mocked and ethnic food is seen as disgusting but suddenly its quirky when a white person

wears a qipao dashiki or salwar kameez as if it's some kind of aesthetic knowing damn well they won't face the same backlash as people of color do! and that's why it's not okay to use the "but the people living in that country say its okay!" excuse!! bc it's different!
