Dear well-meaning CS faculty who tell us that "new languages aren't the answer" or "high school kids only want to learn what everybody else is using,"

Please stop.

You may very well be right! But you're contributing to a belief that we shouldn't be even *trying* new languages.
I can tell you that several of us who are trying to build and test new programming languages for integrating CS into K-12 are struggling to get funding because, on every panel, there is someone saying, "But everyone knows that new languages won't work. Kids want authenticity."
You may be right! But let us do the experiments to test the hypothesis! By repeating (WITHOUT EVIDENCE) that this won't work, you're contributing to the belief that it's not worth trying, it's not worth testing. If you have evidence, please do share it. If you don't, please stop
