Can we also talk about how men treat women in this field? Because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to deal with unwanted advances + unprofessional behavior even after trying to make it clear. It didn’t take until I started publicly seeing someone for them to back off. 1/
We need to make this field a safe place for women, because they belong here. We shouldn’t have to worry about how we present ourselves or who we could run into at a conference. I’ve been kinda silent about this bc it’s been scary for me but no more. 2/
I’m not saying all the men are like this, but this is often pushed under the rug rather quietly and I KNOW I am not the only one here.

Idk what I’m expecting out of this thread, but there needs to be awareness on this topic to start conversations. 3/
Like we should not have to warn students, colleagues, friends about particular folks because of their behavior towards women?!?!?!!!! They deserve to feel safe in their work and academic environment!!!! 4/end
