Why Arsenal are in a bit of a hot mess right now in terms of squad development, and signing players 27+ like Thomas Partey would be a HORRIBLE MISTAKE.
I have recently come across loads of people who have pre-conceived notions about the effect age has on players.

Most are wrong.

Signing players under the age of 25 should be written in law for Raul and Edu.
Old players get bad real quick, in the same way young players can develop quickly.

We've seen that in Mesut Ozil, Luiz, Sokratis, Kosielney, Lacazette, Lichtsteiner, Cech.

These "experienced" players let us down time and time again.
In fact, experience is probably the most overrated quality there is in football.

Salah had less than 600 minutes of football in england for chelsea, liverpool signed him and he broke the PL record.
YES, The *CHARACTER* of dressing room is important, but age does not equal character.

In the same way Tierney and Bellerin are probably our best characters in the dressing room and are our leaders (in unique ways), they are 23 and 25.
To FURTHER clarify, David Luiz and Ozil collectively have more "world class" experience than the rest of the squad combined.

Yet somehow they are at the center of every single dressing room bust up/controversy and have clashed with EMERY and ARTETA.
Squad planning is SO important. You need to have as many players between (23-28) in your starting 11.

Mens sprint, jump and strength peak is 25
Swimmers peak age 24
Male triathletes peak at 27

The average age of NBA players has gone from 30 in 2000, to 27 this year.
As far as I am concerned, American Sports of the ahead of the curve in almost every way in comparison with Football.

I expect football will follow suit shortly.
Football fans seem to think players in their late 20's and early 30's are at there best. This is scientifically and categorically wrong.

Most players earn their reputations by playing well in their mid 20's and then that follows them till they turn 30.
Slight exceptions will be the Goalkeeper, Center-back and Holding midfielder, where the situational experience learned over the years can outweigh the loss of athleticism.

I made a simple colour coordinated template to track and illustrate a players potential career.
Then i did this on the team that has the best players and is most well run in the world right now

Liverpool

With the exception of Milner, who is a freak, and Adrian (who is shit) most are in their best years

Notice: Keita, Ox, Gomez, Trent, Minamino, Origi going ⬆️
Then you get Arsenal. A hot mess.

It gets even worse when you consider
3 of our prime age defenders have ruptured an ACL.
Our entire front 5 positions are either too young to be good, too old and getting worse, adjusting (Pepe) or not even our fucking player (Ceballos).
Thats probably the main reason why we've scored only 40 goals, and a change in manager cant fix that.

And a gentle reminder that Pepe Ozil Auba Laca cost €248m

Thats enough to have signed Salah, Mane and Mpabbe with €30m change left!
Going forward we need to.

-Sign players with the character that fits our club ethos
- between the age of 20-25
- actually want to play for the club.

Unsure if Ceballos fits that description mentally, but I know for a fact that Mari, Cedric and Partey dont.
