i'm watching NOVA: Black Hole Apocalypse lol so here's a thread of random science/math facts i know (haven't let go lol)
1. halocline (as seen in photo) appears like there are 2 different bodies of water. this is due to the difference in salinity (amount of salt)
2. a mobius strip only has one surface, but this can be achieved irl by twisting a piece of paper before attaching two ends tgt, like below
3. DO YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A CALCULUS CONTROVERSY OVER WHO FIRST DISCOVERED IT bcos Leibnitz and Newton both studied and wrote about it despite not knowing each other

I always find this super cool
4. i wrote about this in high school but there is a jellyfish that is immortal called turriptosis nutricula. after its mature phase, instead of dying (of old age, like humans), they go back to their polyp stage.

wrote about this to defend a position paper that immortality exists
5. like in frequency resonance, we affect things when if we're on the same frequency/wavelength.

there are disruption in signals when it's raining (mobile, internet) bcos the freq used has wavelength same as rain drops
6. YO doppler effect is honestly so useful to me. it is when things moving towards us tend to sound louder vs things moving away from us. YOU CAN TELL IF AN AMBULANCE WILL PASS BY YOU

this is also applicable to light, not just sound
7. always find it so fascinating that the same law governing planets aka Law of Gravitational Force (1st photo) is kind of the same with law governing the smallest entities aka Coulumb's Law

a constant x mass/charge over distance squared :)
8. did you guys also had a phase after analytic geometry where you start calling the infinity symbol a "lemniscate" or are u normal lol

lemniscate is the name of the graph that resembles infinity symbol
