Let’s play a game- if you’re white- think of a crime you committed (you or your parents called it a slip up or a mistake) but you broke the law. You drove drunk, stole something, got in a fight...etc. did you walk away? I was on my motorcycle in California and decided to hop up
On my tank and show off a little. A cop saw me and jumped out. For a second I hit the gas and sped away. I lost him. I thought better and pulled over. When he found me he was livid. We talked and I apologized. I was given a ticket for traveling above the maximum speed limit
In California and was complimented on my bike. Keep in mind I had not only sped away from the officer, I was standing on my gas tank traveling around 60 mph on a well traveled public road...I wasn’t assaulted or even cuffed. What would have happened if I were black? You tell me.
I know I would have been cuffed immediately and arrested, my bike impounded, and I would have probably been hit with felony evading. White Privilege is real. Acknowledge it and we take the first step to true equality. That officer was very nice and I hope he would have done
The same for anyone who owned a mistake (which broke the law) but the stats say probably not. I know what I did was wrong but did I deserve to die? If I was black, would I have deserved to die? Or get a break? I hope we get to the point where we can all catch a break. #BLM
