A bit of a thread with a overview of what’s going well and what’s going badly ~4 months into lockdown.

Main lens is autonomy and sustainability. Rated by Red (bad)
Amber and Green (good)

Let’s start with red stuff and get more positive as the thread goes on :)
Biggest red thing is a productive work environment for tasks which require sitting and writing / coding etc. It’s a massive grind to get stuff done. Main cause of meltdowns is frustration due to this

Next red thing is independent travel. Public transport + masks isn’t working :(
Final red thing is dependency on friends. There’s way to many things which I am totally dependent on friends / flatmate for. Long term that’s a huge issue for healthy relationships.

Next up, amber things. Stuff which is going okayish but has issues....
The first amber thing is food. It’s not very structured. I don’t have much autonomy in what we eat and when.

It’s amber because it’s more or less I eat whatever I can make or whatever someone will make for me and when.

Sorting out food is hard and I often get it wrong.
The second amber issue is general health + wellbeing. Stuff like teeth / washing / laundry etc. We have support in place and it’s working. But it’s not hugely stable and often goes wrong.

The final group is green things. Things which are going well. Or better than pre-lockdown
My speech has been pretty damn stable. Often a little wobbly, but so far, it’s stable enough. I’ve not used AAC much and I’ve not had any long periods without speech.

My relationships are also good. My flatmate & connection with friends is really good. Both are stable & robust
Finally my fitness is good. Better than it’s been in years!

A local bike ride alone or a bike ride with oli supporting me is working extremely well. It’s reusing the routine we used for doing public speaking events. Works very well

Often the highlight of my week is a bike ride!
So to wrap this thread up. It’s a mixed bag. Many major challenges remain but we have got a lot of good things going on.

The next 6-12 months is going to be focusing on engineering what I can. Slowly regaining the autonomy and productivity I had in the past.
Bonus note:

At the moment it’s much easier for me to travel 50 miles and do a bike ride up small mountain than it is for me to sit at a desk & write stuff. Complete opposite of 6 months ago!
