There has to be clear, peer-reviewed scientific evidence that children are a risk to:
- teachers
- each other
- older people

This is the evidence that is needed NOT evidence that children ARE the risk. #UsForThemScotland
The burden of proof for keeping schools closed, only available part-time or for anti-social distancing of children lies with those making decisions to impede education and the natural social development of the most vulnerable, not the other way around.
The data for Scotland in particular shows that children are NOT at risk from serious illness and/or death. Therefore to argue for keeping schools either closed or not operating as they were in February requires extraordinary scientific evidence.
Without that evidence, we need to know the clear justification for adopting anything other than a normal education model.
It is no longer sufficient for any politician to stand behind a podium, or take to Twitter, and state they’re “following the science”. Without making said science available to the general public, this response is increasingly looking like a get-out, or a means to bamboozle us.
If these 1600 paediatric doctors have concluded the risks are sufficiently low to open schools, the burden of proof lies with the politicians (who are neither paediatric specialists nor epidemiologists nor virologists) to supply us all with the science that supports the contrary.
