I’ve been seeing a lot about “anti-racism burnout” lately... which... is a conversation I’m too angry & sad to have.

But I’ve ALSO seen a lot of “fixed comfort” floating around. I’d encourage you all to look at the language you’re using to talk about the world today. We see you.
Every time you take a step back from this, we see you.

Every time you choose to turn away, to sit down and stay where you are because it is hard, because you’re afraid, because it feels impossible, we see you.

You choose a side every day. Every action or inaction is choice.
I’m not going to baby you and say “I know it’s hard!” It is. And that’s my whole life, so forgive me if I’ve lost patience with you, who had to think about this for less than a month and feel tired.
I’m always tired and the world MAKES ME and every other Black person do this EVERY SINGLE DAY. Until the day I die. Burnout isn’t an option for me. Turning away isn’t an option for me. And if I can’t turn away then neither the fuck should you, not if you genuinely believe
in equality, or in the sanctity of life.

Your inaction hurts ME.
Your silence is violence against ME.
You deciding nothing will change will be the reason change never comes, because you are not the only one supporting systematic racism. You’re not the only one to fail me.
I REALLY wanted this to be an encouraging thread, but frankly I’m angry.

Just remember: You’re the one who didn’t think my life was worthy of protection because it made you MOMENTARILY UNCOMFORTABLE.

You don’t want to get political now? Remember that when they shoot me.
Because that’s all it comes down to.

I don’t want you marching for my memory tomorrow if you won’t fight for my life today.
