why the movie 365 days is problematic: a thread
tw // sexual themes, kidnapping, abuse, sexual harassment

first i want to talk abt the platform netflix has. especially to younger people. people who are under 16 (that’s how the movie is rated) have easy access to the movie. and that‘s where the problem begins.
the movie starts and its not even half an hour and he already kidnaps her, which he arguments that „she saved his life“ bc he got shot and he saw her face. now keep in mind that this is a love story. so basically they romanticized kidnapping. this is-
only one of a few problematic things abt the movie. the main character, massimo, expresses his anger issues a lot. he often forcefully grabs the woman, laura. a lot of people aren‘t aware but someone not taking their usual anger out on you is toxic, not romantic.
then there is the issue with the sex*al har*ssm*nt. there is a scene where he basically ties her to the bed (i was so uncomfortable) laura struggles and basically he tells her sth along the lines of „i could do what i want right now“
this could be extremely triggering people who have actually experienced harassment. keep in mind that this movie is available to anyone who has netflix. that means it romanticizes har*ssment as well.
and now last but not least, the movie is really graphic. this is not a movie that should be just that easy to watch, especially to younger audiences. it is rated 16+ but i don’t think that rating is okay in any way. i am 17 and i found too graphic.
i really dont know what netflix thought they did when they put that movie out but it could really trigger someone and it bothers me that young people have such an easy access to it. i actually didnt intend to watch that movie at first-
but my friends begged me too bc they liked it. i quickly realized this movie is romanticizing everything it shouldn‘t. i know that parents should control what their kids watch but lets be honest, who wants their parent to do that?
so this thread is for anyone who is „curious“ abt the movie. if you are under 15 i strongly advice you NOT to watch it. or yk what just dont watch it no matter your age. this movie is toxic and just plain problematic.
