Many scientists are focussed on how to be better allies to fellow scientists, but we also need to address how we can re-gain trust among non-scientists. Black people have been BETRAYED by scientists & medics in history & presently. What steps will be taken to right the wrongs?
I’m a scientist. I understand the benefits of vaccines/representing different people in sci/med experiments. However as a Black woman I ALSO understand why Black people don’t want to take vaccines/participate in experiments for fear of being the “expendable guinea pigs”.
Science and medicine are invasive. Injections, taking and handling bodily fluids/tissue samples, collecting and interpreting data... RESPONSIBLY.

As a community are we doing what’s right? If so, how can we show the public that they CAN trust us to do what’s right?
