Great to see #DnD put out this statement. It is not perfect, but it shows they’re listening & actively taking steps to make D&D better. I’ve much to learn too.
D&D WANTS you to keep talking about where they go wrong. Don’t stop.
So I’m asking them, please address Mearls. https://twitter.com/wizards_dnd/status/1273413120531128322">https://twitter.com/wizards_d...

First, context for those who want it: https://www.sarahdarkmagic.com/content/where-do-we-go-here
And">https://www.sarahdarkmagic.com/content/w... for me personally, I love D&D. The game is fun for me. It’s given me so much joy and opportunity. As an understatement, it sucks that this has gone unaddressed by the company. It’s been YEARS.

Initially several brilliant creators were hurt by Mike’s hiring and defense of ZS. Careers were ruined over speaking up. These folx deserve way more than an official apology, likely more than can be given at this point, but like the statement, it is a place to start.
Now more creators who have given the game marketing on streams, podcasts, and social media for years are leaving D&D behind because they see WotC as a place the harbors abuse enablers. They pulled money and good will to the brand. They’re rightfully hurt by the lack of action.
Staying silent beyond removing some names from future printing of the credits gives the impression WotC does not care about the issue. That they do not care about making D&D a welcoming place for people affected by abuse. Amends & a plan for this to not happen again are needed.
This statement WotC put out last night is a step forward & outlines a plan for fixing previous mistakes & ensuring they don’t happen again. They ask to be held accountable on this.
I would love to see the same thing regarding abuse & specifically addressing the Mearls issue.

So keep speaking up. Hold WotC accountable. Let’s see some more marginalized people on staff and in leadership positions, especially on the design team. Let’s see more plans of action. I’m glad they asked. That is a good thing. It’s time for us to answer.
One final thing related to the initial WotC statement link in the first quoted tweet. If you are turning around and saying, “No, seeing orcs and drow as problematic makes you racist!” and you refuse to say, “Black lives matter,” get off social media & Google a new perspective.
And while we are here, someone at Paizo should really answer for the heinous acts in this linked thread. https://twitter.com/Delafina777/status/1264762849542332418">https://twitter.com/Delafina7... https://twitter.com/delafina777/status/1264762849542332418">https://twitter.com/delafina7...
Jess is right! Thank you to the employees and freelancers at WotC who spoke up. That took guts. https://twitter.com/Delafina777/status/1273481652748947456">https://twitter.com/Delafina7... https://twitter.com/delafina777/status/1273481652748947456">https://twitter.com/delafina7...
