#Covid_19 survival thread !!
I am sharing some of the basic concepts behind symptoms treatment and management of mild/moderate cases of covid which shud be managed at home.
Rmbr that this thread is not for hospitalized patients
I’ll share it in various steps with different headings just to make it easy.
Step 1.
Symptoms.. first of all u have to see either the symptoms are mild moderate to be managed at home or they need hospitalization.
High grade Fever in my opinion is the single most significant factor for u to have suspicion of covid19.
Not necessarily that the covid will follow a typical pattern, sometimes u can have a fever earlier and then cough and flu symptoms bodyaches to follow afterwards as i had initially fever and then the other symptoms appeared after that.
Other symptoms include bodyaches, dry cough
Flu like illness, arthralgia, myalgia, loss of taste and smell (non significant as they can be due to antibiotic use and also congestion in nose)
Get urself tested if ur fever is not settling even with the usage of antipyretics.
Plus the proper time for isolation is when u have any of the above symptoms started,,,get ur self immediately isolated(i’ll share the guidelines in some other tweet for isolation)
Step 2.
Diagnosis... false negative tests are very possible as the PCR gives only 75 percent results, similarly false positive is also possible, so if u dont have fever for atleast 72 hours without the use of antipyretics u can break isolation.
PCR is the single best test
step 3.
Most important,,, treatment !
Azithromycin should be used alongwith any other broad spectrum antibiotic as there is a possibility of superimposed bacterial infection that can be lethal so antibiotic is the mainstay of treatment plan
Azithromycin alongwith I/V cephalosporiin (ceftriaxone preferably) is my choice of antibiotic.
Alongwith antipyretics like panadol, but NSAIDS like nimsulide can also be used, initially there was a myth that NSAIDS shudnt be used but they are being used now
Antiallergic is also necessary before sleep,,alongwith a bronchodilator like montelukast sodium i.e myteka before sleep.
Plus a multivitamin shud also be added,
Now a very imp point which i am going to clear is the use of steroids...
Some doctors say that setroids shudnt be used as it is an immunosuppressant but what I personally think is that a short course of steroid can be given as it doesnt have much effect on ur immune system,,, i used tab rapicort 20mg (5 days) and it really helped
I used steroid before there was very less evidence on dexamethasone usage,,, although i went against the guidelines but i had the justification of using short course steroid as it reduces inflammation and fever is a sign of inflammation,,,similarly i’d recommend azithromycin
Usage as immune modulator,,, yess azithro is an immune modulator hence it is the best antibiotic for covid19.
Step 4.
Hospitalization criteria..
If u are having worsening symptoms of pneumonia like shortness of breath need admission.
Resp rate and SPO2 should be monitored on daily basis like 8 hourly atleast,, if RR goes above 30 and saturation below 94,,, immediately supply oxygen
Here is anothe concept of RR monitoring.
If u are having SPO2 more than 95 percent but ur RR is more than 30 per min,, u shud have oxygen at hand as ur lungs are doing more effort to keep the oxygen supply in demand... so extra burden on already damaged lungs,
Once patient gets admission to the hospital then different SOPs for patient treatment which i think i shudnt mention in this thread bcoz i am here to give u info regarding home management of mild to moderate cases...
Step 5,..
Desi totkay..
Thats the most widely asked and most imp question..
Sana makki comes at top of this, i did that too, i dont know how much it is effective but i had the experience of sanna makki qehwa and it somehow reduced my belly fat so highly recommended 😀
Garlic usage is necessary as i had a discussion with a virologist he said that putting one giri of garlic in sunlight for one hour and swallowing it with warm water acts as an antiviral. So its an easy to do medicine.
U shud try atleast.
Ginger also is gud in reducing cough
I also used dates,,3 dates atleast daily and kalwanji with honey.
Somehow helped me in multivitamins and giving me some strength and health
Step 6.
Exercise...
Well I personally think that strenuous exercise shudnt be done bcoz u need proteins for antibodies and if u fo strentgh exercises these protein will be used up in muscle building.
Hence light exercise shud be done as it helps improving immunity and gud sleep
Sleep itself is an immunity booster.
So atleast 8 hours continuous sleep should be part and parcel of ur routine.
Using social media is a tough decision duting isolation as there are many news about patients getting worse and getting infected, too much stress brings u down.
So i’d recommend not to watch news and use social media contents that contain covid news.
Step 7..
Plasma donation.
First of all get urself tested for antibody titer that too quantitatively after atleast two weeks of recovery.
So if ur antivody titer is enough for plasma donation, donate it for the sake of Goodness, plz dont sell it rmbr God didnt ask for money..
When HE provided u antibodies against covid, so why wud u charge when u are donating it?
