You’ve ALL heard of the #BlackLivesMatter movement. You’ve ALL reflected on where you are in your journey right now. You’ve all started to take steps towards become more informed and engaged right?
Well, here’s what @BAMEedNetwork is doing to help you ALL. THREAD.
We are grateful to @SchoolsWeek who throughout our annual conferences in London in January and nationally in May/June have always supported by advertising and highlighting our events. So what’s been achieved since 2016...
Firstly the core group expanded to get more volunteers involved. The group chosen intentionally to represent the diversity we want to see involved in our @BAMEedNetwork too. @Penny_Ten @LO_EduforAll and @hannahtyreman current members with a new member joining soon too!
Firstly, we have always been clear that #BAMEEd is for ALL, global majority, people of colour, minority groups and non- minority groups. We affectionately would ask people to bring a White friend to the next conference. Bring an ally too. Why?
Because we don’t just need the door open to the room we need seat at the table for us all. So we have worked with the @educationgovuk on their statement of intent. We have also worked with the @NGAMedia and supported various organisations in address diversity...
We have created Organising an Event Toolkit and events such as the @EducationFest have sought advice. We have created a speakers bank, anti-racism reading lists, we have highlighted work of others such as how to be an ally by @Muna_Abdi_Phd and finalising another resource ...
From other leading educators. We also have on our website courtesy of the amazing work of @rapclassroom @ksandsoconnor a selection of diverse books that educators can bring into their classrooms. All of these resources can be found here- http://bameednetwork.com/resources
Our twitter handle shares links and details daily- @BAMEedNetwork - but what else, we have created hubs, and creating more, hubs such as @BAMEedSLDN @BAMEedWestMids @bameedeastmids @BAMEedBristol will launch localised events and provide contextually related support...
Recently we launched our Covid-19 Risk
assessment which has been shared by Trusts, CEOs, HeadTeachers across the UK. Been shared by @ASCL_UK @TheKeySL @NAHTnews and we continue to work with others to support. https://twitter.com/BAMEedNetwork/status/1265207259904106496?s=20 Anything else?
Yes, we continue to grow as volunteers, as a grassroots organisation FOR all. We are communicating with @Ambition_Inst ISBL, BETT for example to build further partnerships.

Finally we will continue to work for you all, for us all, but sometimes if you don’t shout about what you’re doing you get lost in self doubt, self criticality. I wrote this thread to share what we have achieved and are doing to tell myself, this journey IS WORTH IT.
None of this work could be done without the time, money and help of our sponsors and friends throughout @leedsbeckett @damien_page @UEL_News @LyftaEd others have supported at conferences and events too. But the stable support of these ha e meant we have continued to grow.
