How can Ole Gunnar Solksjær set up #mufc to beat Spurs? ( Tactical Analysis)

After a pause to the season the Premier League is set to start this week. The key fixture for this weekend is obviously
Spurs Vs #mufc when Ole will play against his predecessor's side. Let's see how Ole can set up his side to disappoint Mourinho for the second time this season.

Its likely that Solksjær will set up #mufc in a 4-2-3-1 as he has done this season. Goalkeeper &Back 4 are likely remain same. Double pivot is likely to be Pogba and McTominay as Ole did at the start of the seaoson. Rashford, Martial,Bruno&James are Solksjær's preferred options.

Mourinho however can set up in two different formations, 4-2-3-1 and 3-5-2.
Mostly Mourinho has opted to use 4-2-3-1 at Tottenham Hotspur. Let's see how can he lineup.

In, 4-2-3-1 the back 4 can be Davies Vertongen Alderwerield Aurier with Lloris in goal.Double pivot is likely to be Dier and Sissoko as they are his most used midfilders. LoCelco can be the no. 10 due to suspension of Alli and front 3 is likely to be Son Kane and Moura.

In a 3-5-2 the midfield will be same but in the attack Lucas maybe removed and Sanchez may be added to the back 3. Ole however will opt to go with 4-2-3-1as he did in the friendlies against West Brom and in the training match.

Jose Mourinho likes to build out from the back when in possession , playing the ball to the midfield and then to the attack. Aurier sometimes carries the ball.Ole can stop Jose from building out from the back and playing the ball forward by the following pressing methods:

If Jose goes with a back 4 then #mufc should create a front 4 while pressing with Bruno becoming the second striker to block the passing lanes and forcing Spurs to play long passes. Bruno and Martial should press whilst shadow covering the double pivot behind them.

With this pressing the only option that will remain will be a long pass to Harry Kane which Maguire can and will have to deal with. The double pivot of Pogba and McTominay should mark LoCelco from getting 2nd balls as well as win ariel duels if Harry Kane drops into the midfield.

Jose might go with a back 5 to outnumber #mufc pressing line.Then James can join Bruno&Martial to press the CBs and only leaving Davies as an passing option.When the pass will be played to Davies everyone should press him to force him to make a backward pass.

When #mufc are in possession Spurs will sit back in a 4-4-2 shape, if they play in a 4-2-3-1. The front 3 and Bruno will attack with one full back attacking at a time and Pogba dictating the play from deep. #mufc can exploit thewide areas as Spurs have defensively poor fullbacks.

If Spurs sit back in a 5-2-1-2 shape, if they play 3-5-2 then Bruno can drop deep pulling his marker(CB) with him and creating a space for Rashford between CB and RB which he can exploit. Aurier will not be able to handle Rashford &if the CB chases him it will make Martial free.

Spurs attack in a 3-5-2 shape in possession with Aurier joining the attack forming Son Kane LoCelco Moura Aurier front 5 & Davies becomes the 3rd CB. Sissoko covers the space left by Aurier in the right side leaving Dier alone in the central midfield.

If Spurs manage to attack #mufc will sit back in a4-4-2 shape. #mufc are very good at defending in low block. Bruno & Pogba can take advantage ofDier being alone in the counter attacks.If Sissoko chases Pogba & Bruno then a lot of space will be left for Rashford to cause danger.

The game is there to be won for #mufc
to take all three points home & to move toward the top 4 & for Solksjær to get victory against his predecessor for second time this season.
