I wanna talk a bit abt Leonard lol. And specifically how freaking well written his....condition is. Like its so subtle and sophisticated. To begin, it couldve seen as a "p*do but he tries to be a good person" kind of story- BUT. Its deeper than that
Okay i wanted to screencap things good ol Leo says, but the drag video is too long and eeeh anyway:
Tho Leonard wails in misery about being a sinner, he is also apparently said to be secretly being proud of this. Which is THE most on-brand map shit there IS. ON POINT.
Also directly or indirectly, children get hurt because of him. Like, he leaves his brothers alone to jerk off in the forest and they get killed because of this. Then he has to watch Caim kill conscripts, tries to save one, gets stabbed in the back. "Fuck you, Leonard" says Drak.
And this stupid ass fucker doesnt learn. He says hes gonna get away from people and children, but he still took younger brothers with him. When they die BECAUSE of him, he then becomes Seree's friend. After ending A, he stalked around towns creeping the children out.
And apparently in one novel he tries to make a boy choir "to lift peoples spirits". DO YOU NOTICE THIS?
This sly fucking bitch knows what hes doing. I hurt children im so bad no im still gonna interact with them i have all these NOBLE reasons to interact with children
THIS IS BRILLIANT. And so, so realistic and on point.
Leonard is the epitome of slime. Best worst part is that hes not self aware enough to realise this. Is the person whos this slimy and dirty yet doesnt realise it... truly at fault?
Yes, says drakengard.
Leonard isnt a caricature of a shotakon, and he isnt a poor tortured soul. For all his poetic proclamations, he never goes through with his attempts to gain redemption - either by killing himself or by actually staying the hell away from kids.
Desires of the flesh have gripped him tightly and he knows this, yet prefers to avert his gaze.
Leonard is a sinner. But more than that; Leonard is blind.
