Award-winning nurse Neomi Bennett has no criminal record. She has been to Number 10 in recognition of her work, awarded the British Empire Medal and is now working locum shifts fighting Covid-19 in intensive care units. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/18/nurse-claims-met-police-wrongfully-arrested-her-because-she-black-neomi-bennett">https://www.theguardian.com/world/202...
Last year police demanded to search Bennett’s car when she was dropping off a friend in Wandsworth late one evening. When she said she was scared and refused, the situation escalated. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/18/nurse-claims-met-police-wrongfully-arrested-her-because-she-black-neomi-bennett">https://www.theguardian.com/world/202...
After being asked to get out 23 times she was pulled from her car, arrested and kept in a cell for 18 hours, despite nothing incriminating being found. https://youtu.be/QEZ1-P6Hu-o ">https://youtu.be/QEZ1-P6Hu...
Bennett believes if she was not black her experience would have been different. A police report into her complaint found no wrongdoing but last month her conviction for obstructing police was overturned and now she’s planning a civil claim against the Met.

The incident prompted Bennett to install cameras in her car. She said: “I feel I have to protect myself from the police more than anything else as a black person in London.” https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/jun/18/nurse-claims-met-police-wrongfully-arrested-her-because-she-black-neomi-bennett">https://www.theguardian.com/world/202...
