The Paul McCartney World Tour's material was made into 'Tripping The Live Fantastic' - Paul's first live album since Wings Over America!

In 1991 another his dream came true - his first classical music album, it was composed in collab with Carl Davis and played by The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra - it was premiered in Liverpool Cathedral.
The story of the oratorio loosely follows Paul's life story - the main character is Shanty, the beginning of the story tells us about his school days, his work and then he meets Mary Dee, his future wife...

The reception of public was great, it was a #1 classical album for weeks
'Get Back' - a concert film about his world tour was released in 1991, it covers mostly Beatles songs - it's one of my favourite films and I recommend you to watch!
1992: Paul released a single 'Hope of Deliverance' from his next album 'Off The Ground'

Songs he recorded this year will appear not only on 'Off The Ground', but also on 'Flaming Pie'
Paul is back to Ed Sullivan Theatre! He played 2 shows there for MTV show "Up Close"

'Fixing a Hole'
1993: A busy year for Paul: new studio album 'Off The Ground' was released this year, Paul wanted to make "live in the studio" record where they recorded a song in one take. Songs are simpler and less complex comparing to 'Flowers', but that doesn't mean worse of course.
'Off The Ground'
'Looking For Changes' - a song against animal cruelty, it was used by PETA

Hope Of Deliverance
After the album's release Paul began The New World Tour - he with his band (Linda McCartney, Hamish Stuart, Robbie McIntosh, Paul “Wix” Wickens and Blair Cunningham) did 78 gigs in 19 countries! It's the last Paul's tour in 20th century, he will go on tour again only in 2001.
Paul went to Saturday Night Live in 1993 - this sketch with Chris Farley is legendary!
The material recorded on his last tour was used for his yet another live album 'Paul is Live!' - it's his lowest selling album, but it's not because the songs were bad, but Paul is Live was his third live album in 3 years.
For the album Paul recreated the Abbey Road cover - here's the list of differences
The dog on this cover is Arrow, the offspring of his dear Martha. Photos were taken by Linda McCartney.
Paul's experimenting with new styles and the first result is 'Strawberries Ocean Ships Forest' - ambient techno album by Paul and producer Youth (Martin Glover) - they made a duo called The Fireman.

"Paul has discovered dance music and the results are staggeringly brilliant"
1994: Paul inducted John Lennon into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - "John Lennon, you've made it!"
Paul, George and Ringo started working on The Beatles' 'Anthology' at Paul's studio - they made a song together called 'Free As A Bird' which was an unfinished song by John. George Martin couldn't work due to hearing problems, so George suggested Jeff Lynne as producer.
Ringo said that they agreed that they would pretend that John had “gone for lunch“, or had gone for a “cup of tea“. Lynne said, that he expected to this song to sound like The Beatles, but George added: "It's gonna sound like them if it is them. It sounds like them now"
1995: 'Anthology 1' was released - it's the compilation album by The Beatles and contains outtakes, live performances from 1959 to 1964 and the song they recorded last year 'Free as a Bird' - From The Quarrymen songs, Hamburg to the Beatles for Sale...

Paul visited the construction site of LIPA - Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts - it was founded by Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty at the building of Paul's old school.
In December 1995 Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer - after Linda found out about it, she remained calm and they didn't tell anyone for now.
1996: 'Anthology 2' and 'Anthology 3' were released this year - the second part of anthology contains the new song called 'Real Love'.

"This is a marvellous album, full of geneses and revelations, by brilliant young men."
This year Paul was recording his next studio album 'Flaming Pie' - it's gonna be released after the Anthology.
The Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts, which he co-founded, was officially opened by The Queen in 1996.
1997: Paul McCartney is Sir Paul McCartney now. He got knighted by The Queen at Buckingham Palace - Linda was absent, but she became Lady Linda McCartney...
... "The best thing about it is that when me and Linda are sitting alone on holiday, watching the sunset, I can turn to her and say ‘Hey, you’re a Lady’. It’s a giggle, although she always was to me anyway"

- Paul McCartney about Linda becoming Lady Linda McCartney, 1997
“No one deserves it more.” Those were the words I heard over and over again. My bank manager told me the same. So did my Mum. My kid’s teacher said it. The bloke down the village shop said it. And I can’t find words to say it better.

- Geoff Baker, Paul's publicist
AND FINALLY new album by Paul 'Flaming Pie' was released - with highly favorable reviews by critics, good sales and strong support of fans, it considered by many as one of his best albums ever! (and it's my personal favourite)
The title Flaming Pie is a reference to an anecdote that John Lennon told in a story published in Mersey Beat in 1961 about the origin of The Beatles’ name: “It came in a vision – a man appeared on a flaming pie and said unto them, ‘from this day on you are Beatles with an A.’ “
Paul McCartney and George Martin, two very serious and responsible men are working on a new song 'Beautiful Night' for Flaming Pie

'Young Boy'
Paul singing 'Calico Skies' to Linda
'Little Willow' is a song that was written as a tribute to Maureen Starkey Tigrett, Ringo's first wife, who had died of leukemia in 1994.
The album features Linda McCartney, their son James McCartney, Jeff Lynne, George Martin, Steve Miller and Ringo Starr.

'Really Love You' from this album is the only officially released song with a credit 'McCartney-Starkey'
'Beautiful Night' - the last appearance of Linda on a music video

Great Day
The project Paul has been working for the last 4 years - his second classical release 'Standing Stone' was issued after 'Flaming Pie' - The world premiere was held at The Royal Albert Hall on 14 October 1997.
The process of recording...
...and making music! Paul explaining how he works on his computer with his Wallace mousepad 🥺
She’s doing great. Yeah, but it’s very tough.... If you catch this stuff early enough – I always use this opportunity to say to women watching the show, make sure you get checked. Do all the examinations, you catch it early, there’s a lot they can do.

- about Linda, 1997
1998:

"Finally I said to her, ‘You’re up on your beautiful Appaloosa stallion. It’s a fine spring day…and the sky is clear blue.’ I had barely got to the end of the sentence when she closed her eyes and gently slipped away."

On April 17, 1998 our world lost Linda McCartney.
'Wide Prairie' is the compilation album by Linda, it was released on October and produced by Paul. Songs on it were recorded from 1972 to 1998.

The duo of Paul and Youth aka The Fireman are back! With a new ambient techno album called 'Rushes'
1999: "About f*cking time!" - Paul McCartney was inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Paul described this event “beautiful, but tinged with sadness” following Linda's death
Two of their friends, Chrissie Hynde and Carla Lane, organized a benefit tribute to Linda - Concert For Linda at The Royal Albert Hall with George Micheal, Elvis Costello, Sinead O'Connor and many others. Paul sang Linda's favorite song 'Lonesome Town' and 'All My Loving' ❤
Paul felt that he needs to get back to his roots - and the result is 'Run Devil Run', his solo album mostly covers of 1950s songs and three originals!
In 14 December, 1999 he returned to the legendary place - The Cavern Club stage with his new album!
The 90s are over... the long and winding road indeed... And we're going with Paul to the new millennium! ❤
I enjoyed making this thread and I hope you will like it! Thank you for your support! And of course, Happy 78th Birthday to Paul! 🥳❤
