I stand by this. Chipotle does not make burritos, Chipotle makes wraps. https://twitter.com/skorgeslaps/status/1273466803369332737
A wrap is simply a burrito that has been deliberately divorced from its Mexican-ness. If you put roast turkey, Havarti cheese, spinach, and honey Dijon aioli in a tortilla, based on the whiteness of its contents, it is indeed a wrap and not a burrito.
I believe Chipotle’s recent rollout of carne asada serves as an admission of decades of burrito white-washing (I mean, duh), thereby admitting they are in the wrap-making business, and not the burrito-making business.
Let me explain: Chipotle has always had “carne asada,” except they listed it as “steak.” Which is interesting seeing as they used the distinctly, and by all accounts incorrectly, Mexican nomenclature “barbacoa” and “carnitas” for shredded beef and pulled pork respectively.
