Keith practicing art to fill time and distract him from the war. Drawing what’s around him, but mostly lance because of he has extreme expressions and sits in odd positions.But now that he studies lance so much, he’s noticing things he never has before things that keep him awake.

Like how lance furrows his eyebrows when he’s confused. Or bites his tongue when focusing. But mostly how often, when he looks up at Lance— Lance is already looking at him. And how sad lances eyes are while looking at him. He’s drawn that sad look more times than he can count.

Eventually he would learn lances face almost too well. Keith could tell when lance was excited or tired of dinner by the look in his eyes alone. He could tell if lance was really listening or just pretending to. He could see even the slightest change. He got good at knowing when

Lance was upset by trying to hide it. His mouth would twitch just barely. The more intense the twitch- the more upset lance really was. So when Keith said he was leaving for the blade and he saw lances mouth twitch more than he ever had before and saw lances eyes get a far off

look— Keith knew he was hurting lance more than he had ever planned to.
