My preferred fix for 3e/4e/5e D&D is to just buff stat generation (a better array, point-buy, or die roll), but I do like how this encourages you to think about what kind of thief, barbarian, or sorcerer you are, like a shorter version of lifepath generation.

If you have your own rules hack or module for decoupling ability scores from fantasy race, preferably preserving the expected math of its target edition, link it below!

also, this thread is not a place for arguing what sorts of race-linked ability score modifiers are "justified" or "not racist". I have my own opinions on that, but i want to keep this thread a place for people to promote their work, ok? :-)
