1/I will shut down for the night playing optimist/pessimist. If I were an optimist, I would believe Clark/Manfred really did have a strong meeting and got to the 1 yard line and left room to say get to 66 games as a final inducement to get a majority of players on board for
2/a season. If I were a pessimist, I would wonder how MLB/PA could get together again and leave a meeting without a joint written agreement of where they are to avoid any more questions about what actually happened in a negotiation. The 2 sides truly can't agree to agree
3/and are continuing to position themselves for a grievance. If this is the scenario then Manfred will just impose a season that will come with all the bad feelings and no cooperation and perhaps stars not showing up. Or maybe the owners will just say why even do this
4/and say kill the season, as is within Manfred's powers from the 3/26 agreement. I want to be an optimist because I would like the best outcome for the sport/fans/myself. But these talks have hardened my pessimistic nature.
