Alright folks, I’m once more out at the demonstrations tonight (6-17). First at the waterfront and then at the PNJZ (Portland No Journalism Zone). Give me a shout if there’s something I should be aware of or something I can perhaps help with. Keep frosty out there my pals.

Ole Ted is receiving a “Fuck Ted Wheeler” chant outside his apartment at the moment. Also a loud speaker siren.

Tents are now being placed in the road on Glisan to block traffic. No cops as of yet but the loudspeaker is, well, loud, so methinks they’re getting some calls.

Things are calm at Ted’s for now so I’m headed to the PNJZ (Portland No Journalism Zone) to check out the scene. It will be very interesting to see how law enforcement handles the protests tonight as for the first time they’ll have two areas to “guard.”

The PNJZ (Portland No Journalism Zone) is way chill right now. About 125-ish in the park. Odd to see 3rd open to traffic, I forgot it was able to do so.

Could be my imagination but the chants seem a bit more rage-y and impassioned tonight after the budget meeting.

Heading back to Occupy Ted and an especially exuberant protester just reminded me of the landmark Supreme Court ruling so relevant to these proceedings: “Ain’t no laws when yr drinking Claws.”

I believe it was RBG who first said that.

I’m told there are a couple hundred folks headed here to the Ted Zone, I just heard a chopper overhead and the square ass TV news just showed up so here we go.

HUGE group just arrived and it’s getting loud as hell.

Just walked up on a SUPER tense scene wear a square looking fella was chased out of the crowd by people saying he was a cop/fed. He did not argue, he just fled.

Both my journalistic instincts and my ever increasing PTSD-inspired anxiety has me thinking how this whole scene is essentially pre-kettled. Be careful out there.

Just did a lap of the perimeter surprisingly saw no marked cars or LEOs. The protesters have done a very good job of securing the outside via ways I’m not comfortable sharing the Hell Site these last three weeks.

There is a large blacked out van doing laps so the TAZ or the Occupy Ted or the what have you is being reinforced.

My anxiety is now at “Dang I Wish I’d Grabbed A White Claw When That Constitutional Scholar Mentioned Them Earlier” levels.

More tents being set up. Several pizzas on the way. Cars are blocking the entryway on both sides. I think this might be going down... but I’m doubtful these rich folks are going to be OK with not sleeping tonight—even if Ted is. Lawd the next tenant meeting is gonna be rough!

Getting tense, some guy just threatened to tase people? Debating posting his picture, seeing how this plays out.

If you have a taser and are threatening to use it on fellow protesters, nice clean black clothes on, an ear piece in and you’re telling people they are protesting wrong, ya might not be on the level!

I’m doing another few laps outside the perimeter and seeing people bringing chairs and such from all angles and also a big white cop/fed SUV at North Block Park lousy with no necked fellows.

I just saw another white SUV with blacked out windows rolling around... I just don’t see how the cops let these rich people be hassled all night. Capitalism and profit are what they defend after all.

They’re shutting down the barricades and apparently have blankets and supplies coming. This has occurred. It is happening.

A main questions for me: how will law enforcement react considering people are in the middle of the bougiest part of DT Portland? This isn’t an alley behind the ICE building—people might get blood and tear gas on their crossiants here in the Pearl! Much harder to brutalize folks.

This is the vibe in here: a barrier being moved so the streetcar can come through. This is, perhaps, a mistake strategically speaking—kind though it may be.
