I saw something yesterday saying "making racism the new nickleback" (which is a snippet and a paraphrase of the statement which I can& #39;t find) and Ive been thinking it over and I have decided Nickelback is EXACTLY the metaphor for racism; a thread:

because a whooooole ass lot of people quietly do heavily fuck with nickelback/racism.
nickelback/racism is exactly the shit that white people fucking LOVE but can& #39;t admit out loud. nickelback/racism is universally hated within your echo chamber yet just outside of your bubble exist jacked up pickups blaring "rockstar" - or shooting a Black jogger in cold blood.

i think the problem IS that racism has the same rep as nickelback, except the stakes are astronomically higher, because contrary to how it feels when & #39;how you remind me& #39; gets stuck in your head, nickelback doesn& #39;t literally kill people.
