i feel like anita pallenberg doesnt get enough love in the stones fandom and i jus wanna say a couple things about her:
for those who dont know, anita was a german-italian actress and model who had connections to various influential figures in the art world including federico ferlingetti, andy warhol and allen ginsberg. she was the 12 year spouse of keith richards with whom she had three children.
she was instrumental in making keith the person we know today - before keith met anita he was shy and introverted and, after they got together, not only did he assert himself more as a member of the stones but he also got exponentially more confident as a person
she helped cultivate the stones' image as not merely a teeny bopper blues band but as an artistic force to be reckoned with by getting brian, mick and keith into things like art and travel and by starring alongside mick in performance which further added to the band's mystique
she served as the inspiration to many of the stones' songs including but not limited to: gimme shelter, dead flowers and beast of burden
she altered the band's internal power sttucture as although brian's role in the band began to diminish way before she came along, once she left him for keith he was never more than a marginal presence in the group
she influenced mick, keith and brian's foray into androgynous clothing and styling. brian was the first of the three to begin the gender-bender trend however it was mick who adopted this as a permanent aspect of his persona as a performer
she influenced the bands music as well - beggars banquet was reportedly remixed in 1968 after anita criticized it
