That is such a dangerous and weird ass way to live.

K*nye has said similar in the past, and I’ve only seen men say and do this: having big opinions on stuff they actually don’t know a lot about.

I’m not exactly of the mind that says you can only learn through books; we learn through experience and guidance, too, I get that.

The reason why I say this is dangerous is bc while folks are touting you to be “deep” and to “drop knowledge” you aren’t even taking the time to do the work of learning, of being a student. Of applying yourself and really figuring out how you know what you know.

J. Cole’s ask to “be gentle” reminds me of when Hill Harper just a couple of weeks ago said, after being transphobic, “I’m still learning”.

Learning what? Be gentle with you about what? Be transparent and clear. Especially since most of that really just sounds like “please don’t criticize me when I’m being violent”.
