Naruto「The Last」Movie + Novel thread

In my journey to read between the lines of 「NARUTO」I read novel and there were some things not in the movie... some was important coz it will all connect the dots and some were too sweet I'm wondering why they didn't include itー

After saving her from the bullies and seeing that his scarf isn't wearable anymore, she tried to give her own scarf to him but he stopped her saying to not worry about it...

Naruto himself didn't realize why the girls kept coming, calling out to him, waiting around in the front of his apartment...

Ino-Shika-Cho are on the way to Kurenai's house to bring birthday presents to Mirai, Kurenai was glad that even now Asuma's students still look after them

Hinata poured her feelings into knitting the scarf, so it resulted to be quiet long. She was knitting non stop for a few days and all she put in her stomach were dried candies... that's why she's so hungryー

Hinata picked red wool as the material for the scarf coz it will go well with Naruto's blonde hair... but seeing his scarf warmly tied to his neck, she taught the gray and white were more refined.

Shika internally: have no idea of the team member's selection at first. To sum it up based on Kakashi's guts: Sakura medic for Hanabi
Sai experienced the enemy in the woods
Naruto - strongest (needed since Kakashi is convince the kidnapping + moon)
Hinata - lure for the enemy

Out of concern, since Hinata is a target... she's placed beside Naruto at all times

Thru Hinata's byakugan, Hanabi's kunai had a faint chakra left in it which left a trail thru the woods till the entrance of the cave.

In the novel, their position were next to each other with their foreheads touching as they slept. When Hinata turned that's where the red scarf fall out of her backpack and wrapped itself around Naruto's chest. (I swear I'm gonna draw their position in this someday)

From the start, the moment the scarf wrapped around Naruto, their memories were already intertwined.

When he saw her writing his name on the paper, he's super confused on why?

Then it flashed on Hinata's confession...

"She loves me? Love... speaking of love, I love ramen... but no, her love isn't that love!"

Her type of love is the one she can die just to protect him so it's entirely different to his love for ramen..

Then ALL of his memories of her flashed in his mind like revolving lantern.

His memories of her kept on running in his mind till the genjutsu is being dispersed... At this point he clearly understood what kind of love Hinata have for him

While Shikamaru is explaining about the bubbles... HIS MIND IS ENTIRELY ELSEWHERE.

In that genjutsu, it was not just Hinata's love he understood. Turns out that upon seeing his own memories of her, he's alsoー

While thinking about this... his face automatically turned red

This is really a LOVE TRIANGLE AT THIS POINT.

In the novel, when Toneri's a kid he wanted human friends, his father and him would sometimes go to earth thru this portal to "watched" their distant blood relatives... The Hyuga.

Without their eyes, they can only sense them.

He said he'll come for her, but to see her in the portal... to be the one to come to himー he was happy.

He met Hinata when they're just a kid. He had taken a liking even without seeing her, his father knowing this said to Toneri:

"In 10 yrs time, let's make her your bride!"

Growing up with puppets who only know how to agree. Toneri have all of it in his way. So he was certain he will have Hinata as his wife.

Ok back to Naruto

After the genjutsu he is entirely conscious of Hinata he couldn’t conduct himself naturally. Skehskhekhskehshshskskー

When he met her eyes, he was nervous, and his smile became stiff.

OH HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED

As observant of her as he is rn.. he noticed she always smiled at him, but when her eyes went to his scarf for some reason she would gaze away and look down.

He still don't get girls' feelings... His scarf made her upset? He clearly didn't want that, so he took it off for now...

The morning after, Hinata noticed that the precious scarf of his wasn’t wrapped around his neck...

"Why…"

As she looked at him, he noticed and smiled— tho his smile seemed a little bit stiff...

(I'm screaming internally so much at this point)

The things they did together that afternoon while scouting, brought him a kind of happiness he can't quite put into wordsー

Yes he was happy before, from the bonds he created with his comrades to his favorite ramen. Both his stomach and heart were filled with happiness.

Butー

The sense of happiness in this afternoon they shared, it was different from what he felt for his comrades and slurping his favorite ramenー

"It was like a sweet and sour, light-headed overjoyed feeling that Naruto had never known until now"

It was a special kind of happiness

They took a break and sat next to each other at a stone floor, he was feeling that giddiness again but much more.

While staring at her profile, he had an impulse to trace his fingers at her face... but she suddenly turned, he became flustered and looked away.

(SKSHSKHSー HELP)

She shyly hid, and her expression as she blushed and looked down caused his chest to tightenー

"A-anything is fine… I have to say something! I’ve got to say something!" He thought.

Putting all of his current feelings, emotions, thoughts into honest words... AND TELL HER.

He longed for more time

At this point and if the world will end like this, his time to confess to her will be lost. He couldn't bear to just die with these feelings hidden deep in his heart...

Naruto clenched his fist and made his decision.

After the stuff with the man under the burial site... only Hinata's byakugan reacted to the light so she only saw THAT.

Even Shika was so concerned, her pale expression when he asked her what happened was tho she said she can't recall anymore...

However, Shika knows Hinata.

There's something unsettling about how tired she became after that matter in the burial site.

Hinata is an experienced ninja. He's quite sure that SOMETHING happened with that ball of light. He also noticed something elseー

Even he can see that they're rapidly getting closer. Naruto falling in love is fine, but they were on a mission rn. It would be a problem if he couldn’t use his full power.

Should he reprimand him but romance problems are delicate. Shika just expresses his discomfort mentally

Sensing someone’s presence, Hinata turned her head. She always smiled at him when their eyes met, but tonight she looked down.

He was asking but she asked to be alone. He knows she's not mad at him. He can sense that she's carrying some burden and suffering alone

Meanwhile, in a front of a fireplaceー

Toneri, who now have eyes, is happy to see things now. Being born an Otsutsuki, from birth his eyes were taken. He wanted to share this moment with his father...

He can only reminisce his time with his father now that he's gone, his father who took him to the girl he feel like is destined to be with...

He wanted to see Hinata that instant, he wants to see her beautiful face with this eyes... he murmurs as if possessed ()

Setting camp again after a day of searchingー

Naruto woke up with Hinata gone, he found her mending a the scarf by a spring. He given up with greetings and decided to watched her from the shadows.

She was so distant that afternoon, she would just vaguely answer his questions and leave. So rather that calling out to her here he just decided to watch her for a bit.

Tho her complexion is still pale, she looks like pondering over something occasionally deeply sighing...

She's really acting strange... concerned about her, he came out from the shadows without being seen.

Noticing him she stopped knitting and said she's deeply worried about her sister, really regretted that she's not home that night, being the one responsible in Hiashi's absence.

He reprimanded her about her worries for her sister.

A butterfly lit up her face, she was smiling sadly at him which made him a little flustered and slipped up what he's been bottling up the past few days they were together

Peering at him, she asked what he just said. Noticing his slip, his stomach tightened. What he ought to say as a man, he ought to say properly.

He looked into her eyes, her white pupils were wavering. He took a breath and all at once he said it.

He can't comprehend what was happening.

"What is this, Hinata... why would you go with a guy like him?"

He asked Hinata repeatedly in his mind, he was full of confusion at this point. His scream made his comrade aware of what's happening which turns into a mid air battle.

His questions to her were left unanswered... he stood there dumbfounded.

He remembered she confessed, but he confused her love with "I love ramen" or "I love shogi". He must have caused her pain. This must be his punishment for all of the years he was dense about her feelings.

She screamed his name. She glared at Toneri, saying that's uncalled for, it's terrible

She pushed his arms away when he put his arms around her again. As he said he just didn't want her to mixed up in a pointless fight, he pops a bubble in her face to lose her consciousness.

This mission might be far beyond her own ability, but she had no choice but to carry it out. Otherwise, rejecting his confession, hurting him, and infiltrating Toneri’s castle would be meaningless.

"I won’t run away. I never go back on my word." That’s the nindou they shared

When he was in a good mood like this, he was a cheerful and good-natured young man.

Even if he was distorted by a life of solitude without even having someone to share meals with... this could be his true form, an honest man.

Hinata tried talking to him.

He didn't like the topic that she wanna talk about. Acting up like this... being angry when things didn't go the way he wants to, he's just like a child. (Selfish bastard in short )

But for him to hold enormous powers... she's like walking on thin ice here (HINA GANBATTE)

Naruto woke up screaming Hinata's name. Shika immediately went to him and when asked where she is, he said she's at the artificial sun.

After a while Naruto finally talked about what happened. He confessed and got rejected.

Shika's stunned. He doesn't get it.

"The awkward but genuinely Hinata had been in love with Naruto, the dim-witted Naruto who hadn't realized it in the slightest
ー throughout the years the surrounding friends continued to worry about such a vexing love situation."

Shika still doesn't get it... BUT THEIR ON A MISSION! A MISSION! The discussion of the romance can wait afterwards.

He continued to lift his spirits up tho it was to no availー the fact that she went to the other guy's side, he's too heart broken from that

After a little while, Shika finally pressed things out of Naruto.

He explained she is to be a bride for Toneri. And when he saw how the scarf burned, he felt pathetic, it was like his bond with her was destroyed along with it.

Shika made him talk to Sakura.

She was clearly disappointed in her teammate's pathetic face he is making, of course Hinata absolutely have a reason on why she did that.

"Why can't you have faith in the girl you love?" She said back to her teammate.

Sitting by their campfire, a tear run down in his cheekー

He trully fell in love, confessed, got rejected and hit rock-bottom.

He's trying to crawl up, to man up, from a boy to a man. All of the words of his comrades repeating in his head. Life slowly returning to his eyes.

Came out by himself, the sun giving out light like a moonlightー the girl he truly loved was inside.

Giving an oath to bring her back, he grasped the sunlightー acting like it was the artificial sun he was grabbing in his hand. (More like she was the one he was grabbing back )

Splitting into 2 groups, a lot of puppet attacked them as they stormed inside.

Naruto instantly defeated a lot of puppets, broken pieces flying everywhereー without even stopping, he run thru the corridor like that.

"That Naruto, he's all fired up..."

(Shika is like )

The long awaited wedding as by Toneri... he commanded her to smile cos it's their weddingー (what an obnoxious freak )

She answered back with a mechanical smile, like a marionette.

This is a Otsutsuki wedding ritualー the groom will give the bride a piece of bread mouth to mouth... THO THIS WAS STOPPED BY NARUTO

He's in rage. Tho he's dense, he knows what it means when a man and a woman is in a formal wear in front of an altar.

He's sure she is being forced into this. He will make it absolute that he'll be the one to stand beside her not Toneri

Toneri called this "ARK". A lot of bubbles containing pair of animals is inside. When earth stabilizes these species here will start the ecosystem, which means Hinata and Toneri will begin the next human race.

(I really wanna whack TONERI'S FACE HERE)

Toneri's clearly controlling her. Naruto moved to released the control telling her to hold on for a bit even tho she will not response

When he searched for the bubble controlling her, she begins to twitch violently. He hold on to her, telling her it'll be over soon

The moment he grabbed the bubble stuck in her heart, it blinked and he caught a glimpse of her memories. The torn scarf. Being hung on a wall along with other pretty marionette...

He was enrage by this. He grabbed the bubble out and crushed it.

Hinata ran back to Naruto, her eyes wavering as she look at him. He instinctively understood. She had come back to him

She wasn't someone who will close her heart and just run of to Toneri. He clearly understands now.

Naruto wants to take this chance to finish the enemy but with perfect timing a lot of puppets scooped up Toneri and retreated. He begins to run after them but Hinata stopped him telling him there's not much time, Tenseigan should be destroyed immediately.

The moon stopped approaching. Kakashi secretly took a lot of measures to stop the moon. Out of all of them, he has the highest hope of the team where Naruto is.

"Was it really you..." Kakashi spoke to his heart to his trusted student.

Kurama being spotted in the moon, only an hour remaining from the palm clocks, Kakashi requested for the canon to be on hold. When the Raikage asked what makes him think they can do it...

"I have faith on them, if not... I wouldn't send them on a dangerous mission!" He said.

Locked in battle, recalling both of their lonelinessーA lone child hugging his knees in the moon surface and an orphaned child alone in a swing.

Being both an orphan, what separates them is their way of thinking...

Naruto and Toneri clashes from the front.

Everything was covered in a smoke from the attack of that blade of light.

Beside Toneri, Hinata absently sat down inside the cage with several tears coming from her wide open white eyes.

Just then the moon's surfaced rumbledー

After a series of jutsus exchanged. Naruto ran up to Toneriー

He didn't need any jutsu or skill anymore, just a fist is enough and with all his might he threw a punch head on.

He dragged him down in the earth's shadows where the rays wouldn't hit him.

Spotting Kurama's writing on the moon, which means both mission accomplished.

To rescue Hanabi and to save the world. Kakashi took a deep breath and declared mission cleared. Seems like his guts turned to be right on.

As one would suspect, Toneri was a loss of words in front of a lot of stone coffins... hearing Hinata saying that Hamura's soul lead them there he hung his head and speak quietlyー

"I... It's because I went against my father's wishes"

On the dead bed, his father's worried about him... being alone in the moon.

Humans doesn't only need food, shelter and clothing. Humans musn't live aloneー

So his father wishes for him to go back to earth and settle there, make some friends and live for his own sake.

On the way back to the portal, he spoke in a small voice to herー

"I was also alone too as a kid, Toneri and I seems a bit similar. If I hadn't had you and our comrades, I might've ended up like Toneri"

(time to prepare tissues)

There's no more wall, no more doubts between them now. She went to embrace him but hesitated... she still needs to know that.

Upon asking, it was knitted by his late mom for him

(I also noticed it was a child's scarf? Like it was so short around his neck when he wears it)

As they passed by the bubbles, their memories together were reflected on the surfaces.

When it was the moment she stood to fight pain and confessed... she slightly blushed as the memory was being recalled.

The portal is collapsing, her foot slip on the sand bubble surface and their joined hands were separated. He caught her arm and carried her bridal style, and continued ascending ー

He said his vows to her in his arms like that, he wanted to be with her till death.

She was left speechless by his vows. She silently buried her face in his chest. He asked her to wrap her arms around him and to never let goー

She swore to her heart at that moment, she will never let go

In the air after the two completed their ascent, just as they were about to start free falling— everything was still.

A full moon in the background, his shadow moved its face closer to her shadow, and finally overlapped.

(I just died. This is overkill you two! )

Years passed, snow piled up again.

Outside the veranda of a multi-storey house, 2 kids were playing in the snow along with their father and eventually their mother also joinedー

From afar, The Hokage rock gently gazed at the forms of the laughing parents and children...
