This is going to be a rant about some very stupid B.C. highway distance signs.

Look at these signs. They are on the same highway in the Fraser Valley. Do you see how stupidy stupid they are?
In case you miss it: At least two of these signs are stupid lying signs.
At the top, you have a sign suggesting Vancouver is 101 km further away than Chilliwack. In the next signs, the two cities have suddenly moved. Now they're only 95 km apart.
The signs would have you believe that in the last three minutes or so, you have gotten five kilometres closer to Chilliwack, but 11 kilometres closer to Vancouver. STUPID
The same is going on in the signs featuring Abbotsford. One minute, the two cities are 72 km apart. The next, they're 66 km apart. You've gotten 13 kilometres closer to Abbotsford, but 19 km closer to Vancouver. STUPID.
Patrick here has a theory that explains Abbotsford but doesn't explain the Chilliwack signs. https://twitter.com/padeeo/status/1273284185445199873
What seems to me, ranting here, is that at some point, Vancouver moved – at least according to sign-makers. You'll notice both sets of signs has a 6-kilometre variation. That suggests that Vancouver is a uniting factor.
Also, those Chilliwack signs seem five kilometres apart, not 11. Ditto for the Abbotsford signs.
STILL. @TranBC fix your stupidy stupid signs, if only for my sanity.
So this sign is a good clue of... something. 103 km from here at the moment gets you all the way to UBC/North Vancouver. It gets you to Vancouver and then BEYOND Vancouver.
Now. Let's go back in time. Does that sort things out?
NO.
Ditch Highway 1 at Abbotsford. Take Old Yale Road, Fraser Highway and (because I'm unsure of the historic routes) Kingsway. Take it into downtown. You're still short several KM. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/49.1436304,-122.0236183/49.2814432,-123.1177559/@49.2612706,-123.1129348,13.7z/data=!4m49!4m48!1m45!3m4!1m2!1d-122.2603003!2d49.0486576!3s0x54844a7cde9968e5:0xfcd7971320c06c5e!3m4!1m2!1d-122.3400137!2d49.0519846!3s0x5484354be7f17341:0xa15cc0fb38b1f6be!3m4!1m2!1d-122.4757518!2d49.0582341!3s0x5485cbc0068c8a59:0xe87571f624ce8fc0!3m4!1m2!1d-122.6052816!2d49.0908055!3s0x5485ce5eb1e61437:0xda1d770ae0bcc1ef!3m4!1m2!1d-122.7462872!2d49.1433083!3s0x5485d08d42bd1bff:0x27ff2ff7b11cfe6f!3m4!1m2!1d-122.7978989!2d49.1647631!3s0x5485d753c3a22589:0x6cfff0747bec5f3d!3m4!1m2!1d-122.8953391!2d49.2079774!3s0x5485d80e1ab7fc3b:0x63db2b6db7f4e452!3m4!1m2!1d-122.9428148!2d49.2165213!3s0x548677cfd231d7bf:0x76f170a32c8f4ea9!3m4!1m2!1d-122.9992677!2d49.2284477!3s0x548676590715b509:0x51608c2b24225145!1m0!3e0
Anyways, the Ministry of Transportation says they'll get me answers. (I appreciate that, although.... I'm not particularly looking for answers. I know the signs are stupid. I'd like to see them be non-stupid.) https://twitter.com/TranBC/status/1273286743437897728
