I don't have anything new to say about sexual misconduct in comics--we have been here before and we will be here again--but what I will say is, that at my particular intersection of race and gender, I'm really fucking disgusted with several, if not, most of you
to be 100% clear: this is not to detract from any survivor speaking up. but it has become extremely apparent that several of you are capable of speaking up about sexism in comics but essentially none of you can maintain that identical energy or commitment for racism
which is not to criticize anybody for speaking up and trying to make things better regarding sexism, but instead to interrogate why, even recently racism can be spoken of widely in this community at the level of murder only
I've understood in the last few days that racism is seen as a victimless crime right up until the moment that someone is dead, which comics can still abdicate from because that's a police problem
the same things you are saying about predators meaning that important work never gets made, the same things you are saying about predators making people unsafe--how can you not see that this is what was being asked of you days, weeks, and months ago
even now, as I tweet this, I assume that I'm going to be taken as distracting from The Conversation At Hand because you don't understand that I'm a black woman involved in comics, so if you want to make things safe for women, this is also what you have to do
I am asking you to compare and contrast the responses seen here, the responses you yourself have given to racist actions within this industry and then work out for yourself why that gap exists and how you allowed it to
I am a woman and I will repeat again that my stance on predators and believing survivors is very much known and I will also repeat that I'm black and very much fuck you all
