See, I remember when Godwin Obaseki came back to start his investment company because they kicked me out of my room for his partner to stay for 3 months as they launched Afrinvest. I saw intelligent people work to build an institution from scratch. I was happy when he contested.
He is the person we keep asking other people to be. He excelled in the private sector and went to the public sector to put in place what he learned. Afrinvest started by discounting and selling Nigeria’s debt and they made me understand derivatives in real life. He is a treasure.
He didn't disappoint us in my state. The last 4 years have been of digging us out of the hole we had been buried in for decades. My only disappointment was the party he decided to align with. I could predict with certainty that he was going to encounter all that’s happening now.
I don't know how he wants to play this but we not only want him there for another 4 years, we want him to put in a successor that will keep his vision for another 8 years. If it means forming a new party, we will all contribute towards starting one. Nedoghama ma gualo.
Maybe we should just start an ”Edo Party.” National be damned.

Our democracy should allow localized parties and independent candidature.
