The state police said it will be an 8 hour wait from the back of the line to speak to a state employee about unemployment.
Like yesterday, it’s been cut into two lines. Those that didn’t make it before around 9:45 have to give their name and number and hope for a call.
Actually it sounds like it was closer to 9. Police are handing out water to people who made it in the back of the line. They’re expecting to be here until 4.
These folks are the lucky ones. Even if they have to wait all day, they’ll still get seen. Everyone else had to give their name to a clipboard.
Sounds like the state will be doing this for the rest of the week. They’re ironing out the details over whether it will still be located here.
They’re now setting up a tent to get people shade.
The line is still very long and people are still getting turned away. Every time someone comes out of the education center there’s a cheer.
Still long. These people have been waiting at least 5 hours.
The unemployment office has set up a table where people can sign up to talk to a real person. They say there will be a call back within 48 hours.
It’s been *at least* a six hour wait.
Beshear says tomorrow there will be a dedicated line for people who filed in March and on Friday a line for people who filed in March and April. They’re doubling the number of staff tomorrow.
Line was still out there as of 6:40
A group of people who had been waiting here since 9 am were turned away at the door.
“You can’t help but to feel hopeless in this situation, you can’t help but feel that there’s no light at the end of the tunnel,” said one person who was turned away at the door.
