Like most animals, pre-civilization man i.e. hunter-gatherer societies were far more egalitarian wrt gender roles & sexually liberated and thus, more in tune with the basic demands of feminism. Men & women copulated more liberally & children were raised collectively by the tribe.

All this changed with the discovery of agriculture. Suddenly, finding food was no longer the key issue to survival. Food could be grown & surplus food could be traded. The caveat was that agriculture is far more labor intensive. Larger tribes pooled in resources more effectively.

With surplus food being traded, the concept of "property" came in being. With such intensive labor input required to create property, every man wanted to ensure that his progeny inherited his property. Ensuring that your children are really yours now mattered.

The most effective way to ensure this was by controlling who females copulated with. Thus was born the concept of female chastity & marriage - and patriarchy started to finally take form. Women were now resources meant to be kept away from other men & other tribes.

As agriculture required pooling large amounts of labor and resulted in trade & property, early cities started to take shape under a patriarchal structure. Protecting women was also paramount because they are the biological key to maintaining successful city-level population.

Thus was born, what we now recognize as patriarchal civilization - an unnatural construct enforced by man upon fellow men, to protect key resources (women & children) & ensure proper inheritance of property - all contrary to our natural urges.

The natural urge of man is to copulate with as many women as possible. The natural urge of women is to give birth to as many children as possible. Basically crude animalistic behavior akin to rape, homosexuality, & living in a continuous state of low-intensity violence.

Patriarchy evolved to curb these natural urges. Punishments were imposed for rape, adultery, murder, & homosexuality. Violence became high-intensity (war) but was now rare and no longer a day to day affair.

However, the urge to return back to our primitive natural state is far too strong & biologically ingrained. This is why no patriarchal civilization lasts forever. We always return to our barbaric natural state. Civilization is the fleeting glory of man.

The fall of civilization, is almost always preceded by a return to our natural state through various means - through feminism or societal acceptance of homosexuality or enforcement of egalitarian gender equality or lowering of punishments. There are too many examples in history.

Take 4th century Rome or 6th century Arabia, for examples. Both societies that were far more "liberal" & in tune with today's egalitarian ideals than say 19th century Victorian Britain. Both societies collapsed and the power gap was filled in by hyper-patriarchal ideologies.

This is where we are heading as modern society. The developments since the 70s are alarm bells of a civilization approaching its Spenglerian collapse. But instead of being concerned, we celebrate such developments.
