I drove past NHS Nightingale Exeter, where conversion works are in full swing still to turn it from an ex DIY store. They seem to be doing a really thorough, semi-permanent job.

For whom is this being done, if the infection is such that we’re allowed to go to the shops again?
Not a lot of people, including @simonjamesjupp who seems very taken with this Nightingale, realise that these places are not staffed. Referring hospitals have to send their own, thereby disrupting all their work schedules and shifts.
There are 100,000 vacancies and rising in the NHS, just as we exit the EU which sends a significant chunk of staff.
The bed component of a “hospital bed” is negligible. A “hospital bed” without staff and resources isn’t a hospital bed, it’s just a bed.
