what’s been happening in Venezuela for the last 22 years that everyone should be aware of: A THREAD!!!
ps: i decided to make this thread in order to educate some ppl that probably have no idea about what’s going on in my country, so if u could share this then great!! <3
there’s a DICTATORSHIP happening in venezuela, more than 6 millions of people have moved out of the country looking for a better future and new opportunities so that they can have a better life.
in 2019, Venezuela was the country with the highest inflation rate in the world (9.585,5%). Its GDP per capita in 2018 was 2.887€, which positioned the country at the #128 place out of 169 countries, which means, venezuelans have a low standard of living
the salary in Venezuela is 400,000Bs/month (to be clear, 2$/month), 1kg of meat at the supermarket costs 500,000Bs, which means that the citizens can’t even buy basic food with their salaries, not to mention the amount of food shortage that exists in there
another thing that’s worrying about venezuela’s situation is the amount of crimes and insecurities that happen constantly in the country, which made it in 2018 the country with the highest rate of homicides in latin america
in 2018 was registered that the poverty rate in venezuela increased a 10% in 3 years. 90% of the population don’t have enough incomes to access to basic sources such as food, and the life expectancy is 3.5% shorter.
one of the saddest things happening in venezuela is the amount of children, adults and elder people that suffer from malnutrition due to the humanitarian crisis that’s been happening in the country. approximately 6,8 MILLIONS of citizens suffer from malnutrition (info from 2018)

the pics below show some venezuelans eating from the garbage because they can’t afford buying basic food
between 2014-2017 there were many many many protests against the government. a lot of citizens, mostly teenagers, lost their lives trying to fight for the liberty of the country, for justice and for peace, the p0lice & the military killed them. never forget their names 🙏🏼
more pics of the protests:

(have to mention that most of them were pacific until the military started to attack the protestants)
as i said at the beginning of the thread, +6M of venezuelans have left the country looking for better opportunities, sadly, most of them have suffered of XENOPHOBIA. people mistreat venezuelans just because of the country they come from. we’ve been accused of wanting to +
“steal” people’s jobs. also, people use slurs to refer to venezuelan people such as “venecos”, venezuelans have been beaten, laughed at and rejected just bc of our nationality
the current situation isn’t any better. i hope this thread helped some of u to understand how bad the situation is. this topic isn’t talked about enough as it should be, people die every day bc they don’t have food, bc they’re killed, bc of the crisis venezuela is passing through
it’s so sad to be far from your family and friends, and i hope one day we all can get together again. please pray for my country, i really wish that the situation ended anytime soon 🙏🏼🇻🇪
