Today, a black film editor posted in a Facebook group for Hollywood editors looking to connect w/other black editors, as there is severe underrepresentation in post-production & they can be hard to find. What ensued is a slew of white editors who immediately objected (THREAD) 1.
to the post, asked for it to be taken down by moderators, and accused the poster of breaking the law, discriminating against whites, fanning “anti-white” racism against them, and insulted black editors and white editors speaking up for diversity. 2.
Nathan Lee Bush responses follow. He’s edited for @nike @budweiserusa @Facebook @CapitalOne @youtube @OldNavy @Converse @MorganStanley @Barilla @virginhotels @BubbaWallace @darkhorsewine @CarnivalCruise to list a few. He directed @CocoGauff in @newbalance & @nike commercials.
He’s also a cinematographer for @panerabread @esquire @reeses @TiffanyAndCo @saks products and @GQMagazine with @LewisHamilton
This is Jared Tarlow: he’s an editor at @shondaland and worked on @ScandalABC @GreysABC at @ABCNetwork and doesn’t understand his privilege at all. Trying to shame and intimidate the editor to remove the post.
Enough is enough! The racism, trolling, agitation, & intimidation from privileged white editors towards black editors in these posts (a thread)...are just a taste of what it’s like when wanting equal opportunity is a threat @DEADLINE @Variety @THR @ava
When Black Editors Matter is met with no ALL editors matter. Smh @ReignOfApril please read this thread. #editorssowhite
This is Marc Fisher! He doesn’t give “2 shits” about you guys blacklisting him b/c “you have no idea who” he is & he’s “working on stuff you can only dream about”. Nice IMDb! Yes it’s ironic Marc worked on “ @MTV’s White Supremacy Destroyed My Life” last year.
