You want to know why Rome was constantly fighting wars? It's largely because they needed more slaves. They had to conquer new slaves because they couldn't BREED THEM from current slaves because that's not how Roman slavery worked.

The HORRIFIC thought that a non-slave would rape a slave and that child would be ALSO A SLAVE was an ANATHEMA to pretty much everybody in all times until European colonial masters said "screw it."
And NOBODY took that ball and ran with it like the Americas.

When they finally outlawed the slave "trade" that was HUGE. Outlawing slave PURCHASES pretty much cut off the supply of slaves worldwide.

BUT NOT HERE. BECAUSE HERE these assholes didn't need to BUY any more, they were cool with putting black people in bondage from birth.

AMERICA was UNIQUELY CRUEL when it came to the slavery of children, the rape to create additional slaves, and the INABILITY for slaves ever to earn or purchase their freedom absent manumission by their owners.
