what it’s like to live in Iran; a thread
Iran is where u lack basic human rights, where u don’t have freedom of speech, where u end up in jail for educating ppl, where u can’t choose what to wear, what to like, what to believe in.
Iran is where all schools are single sex and little girls from the age of 7 have to wear hijab as their uniform and they're taught about islam no matter what their actual religion is.
Iran is where u have to be muslim or will face injustice. you can’t freely express what you actually believe in. you are forced from a young age (as said above) to believe and behave in the way they tell you.
Iran is where millions of young talented boys and girls are struggling to make things better and to create change, but they'll face consequences when they try. Many of them leave the country feeling disappointed.
as a woman living in iran, you can’t choose what to wear. you are forced to wear hijab no matter what your actual beliefs are or police will get you in the streets and they’re usually kinda brutal...
as a woman living in iran, u legally need ur father’s permission to get married. after getting married u lose ur right to get a divorce and u legally need ur husband’s permission for doing many tasks, traveling to other countries for example.
the legal age to get married is 13 for girls and 15 for boys.
any sexual activity outside marriage has punishment. gay marriage is forbidden and has d*ath penalty.
in Iran a woman’s life revolves mostly around her hymen. There are laws written about the conditions of that piece of meat. u can’t get certain vaginal treatment if ur not married cause it might hurt the hymen. u can’t participate in certain sports cause it might hurt the hymen.
in Iran ur genital area determines for you which major to study and what job to get. there are limits on accepting girls for certain majors.

a female judge in iran can’t make the final decision in court, cause after all she’s a woman and unstable.

women can’t become singers.
a male in iran is almost free to kill her own daughter, u might get 3-10 years of sentence and then get out to maybe torture ur other daughters, anyway, the law always supports u.
birth control is only available for married couples.

abortion is illegal ofc.

in some parts of the country little girls get FMG.
in Iran, u don’t have freedom of speech. the govt k*lls innocent ppl and shuts down the internet as soon as u start protesting.

Iran is where 2/3 of population lives in poverty. where little girls and boys k*ll themselves because they don’t have proper food to eat or new clothes to wear.
Iran is where twitter, youtube, skype, tiktok, telegram, etc are banned there yet the govt officials proceed to use almost all of them for their own benefit.
living in Iran means hearing about women getting k*lled in their houses, men committing su*cide cause they can’t feed their families, everyday and mourning for all of these in silence cause no one hears you.
it also means ending up in jail for speaking up about issues like this so god pls have mercy on me
