Saying POC can be prejudiced but not racist is not precise enough and risks being miscontrued. It is more accurate to say white people cannot be victims of racism while acknowledging the many ways POC can and do uphold white supremacy.

White person objection: But a Black person was mean to me for being white.

Me: I’m sure that hurt your feelings but that Black person wasn’t in a position to systematically discriminate against you, your family and community just for being white so it was not racism.

“Obama cannot be racist because he is Black.”

While it is true that Obama cannot be racist against white people, as president of the US he certainly upheld the logic of white supremacy that continues to marginalizes BIPOC both in the US and abroad.
