A thread about Fred McGriff. You can call it a "Thread McGriff" if you'd like
(1) Over a 4 year span in Toronto, Fred McGriff hit 20+ HR all 4 years, including three straight 34+ HR seasons while batting .269 or better 3 times. His 36 HR led the AL in 1989, yet he was never an All Star in Toronto. In fact, McGriff hit 31 or more HR in 7 straight seasons
(2) (led NL with 35 in 1992) while never batting lower than .269 and never posting an OBP below .375, yet he was only an All Star twice in those seven seasons. This dude, despite 2490 hits, 493 HR, and a career slash line .284/.377/.509, is not in the Hall of Fame.
(3) Fred McGriff is the most underrated, overlooked, and under-appreciated player of all time. How has the committee not voted him into the Hall of Fame yet?
