Anyone up for building the Chief Peguis Extension, one baby step at a time?

I'm biased of course, but in my view this is one of Dear Winnipeg's best posts. It's hard to pick a single reason why the city/public works' obsession with motor vehicle traffic is so dangerous.
It's disappointing that equity, municipal solvency & quality of life don't seem to count for much, but I get it - they seem hard to quantify or are too easy to say are someone else's problem to solve. But the climate action part is impossible to ignore. If not now, when?
To meet our own unanimously-adopted Climate Action Plan targets, we need *fewer* cars on the road by 2030 THAN THERE ARE TODAY -and that's "as we grow to a population of a million" as our elected officials are so fond of saying.
To have a net decrease of cars is *unfathomable* at the rate we're implementing our pedestrian/cycling strategies (which in my view are lacking to begin with) and gutting public transit while continuing to treat motor vehicle traffic as the only mode worth spending on.
We will not meet our own climate action goals with the way things are going. I sure hope that under @Vivs4PDW and @mathieuallard's leadership there can be a vigorous & honest push to rethink Winnipeg's cars-first approach to transportation.
Our planet, our citizens, our finances and our children demand much better than what we're being given. End rant. Please read the post. https://www.dearwinnipeg.com/2020/06/15/welcome-to-twin-peaks/
