This is great, and it all should sound very familiar to anyone who's followed the Post's coverage of local DC politics (and compared it with the ed board's endorsements) over the last decade. @fenitn and others do a great job but there's just not enough coverage! https://twitter.com/sethmpk/status/1272575083408756736
For example, as far as I can tell, there was a brief intro article on Brooke Pinto when she entered the Ward 2 primary on February 13th, then no other coverage specifically about her (her name comes up in articles about debates, etc) until April 30, when the Post endorsed her.
So the ed board makes these totally out-of-touch endorsements, of complete political newcomers (like Pinto or Dionne Reeder), or Bowser proxy nonentities (Petar Dimtchev), or despised lightweight incumbents (Brandon Todd), which enrage people who actually care about DC politics.
There's some schadenfreude when they endorse someone who goes on to lose by 50 points (or an incumbent who loses by 12!), but it's also a depressing reminder that they couldn't get away with these indefensible choices if they actually devoted more resources to local coverage.
