Transgender activists diminishing the sex based oppression women and girls face, and the generational trauma that we have inherited from our mothers and grandmothers, is textbook misogyny. So here's a thread to remind you of the reality of being female within a patriarchy. https://twitter.com/ayyy_vuh/status/1272397611367047168
87,000 women were intentionally killed in 2017. More than half of them (50,000 ) were killed by intimate partners or other family members, meaning that 137 women across the world are killed by a member of their own family every day. More than a third (30,000) of the women
intentionally killed in 2017 were killed by their current or former intimate partner. Based on revised data, the estimated number of women killed by intimate partners or other family
members in 2012 was 48,000 (47 per cent of all female homicide victims). https://www.unodc.org/documents/data-and-analysis/gsh/Booklet_5.pdf
FEMALE INFANTICIDE: Estimates for the 1990s show that in India alone there were 39.1 million missing females. In Pakistan the number was 4.9 million. Bangladesh, 3.7 million. China, with the largest population in the word, has 40.9 million “missing women” in the 2000 census.
While the exact number of girls and women worldwide who have undergone FGM remains unknown, at least 200 million girls and women have been cut in 31 countries with representative data on prevalence. https://data.unicef.org/topic/child-protection/female-genital-mutilation/
this is.......literally not even half of it all. Female oppression is arguably one of the pillars of global civilization. To deny its existence, prevalence, and importance is an act of misogyny.
