Byrne Grants -- added $2 billion 2009.
COPS Grants -- increased budget by 250%
Asset forfeiture -- 1.8 billion in 2011

Pentagon giveaways aka military gear/equipment for cops.

Millions of pieces of military equipment such as tanks, bayonets, M-16s, and armored personnel carriers have been given to domestic police agencies for use on against American citizens.

Byrne Grants aka multi-jurisdictional anti-drug and anti-gang task forces.

These task forces have caused numerous deaths, been responsible for botched drug raids on the wrong houses, and have been implicated in corruption scandals.

COPS or community-oriented policing is the idea that cops should be proactively policing communities they serve.

But there’s really no way to control how these grants are spent. Most funds have gone to helping SWAT.

Joe Biden credits himself as creating the program.

According to Joe Biden's website, he wants to expand the cops program by $300 million dollars.

Asset forfeiture is a policy where the government can seize any cash, cars, houses that cops can reasonably connect to a crime.

You must prove in court that you legitimately earned it. Many can't afford a lawyer therefore forfeiting their property due to cost and hassel.

These proceeds go to police departments. $445 million was given to police under Obama under this policy.

DHS has been giving its own grants to police agencies.

These grants have been used to purchase military-grade equipment in the name of fighting terrorism. But they aren't regulated and used for more SWATS and raids.

Medical weed raids under Obama has not only continued the Bush and Clinton admin policy of sending SWAT teams to raid growers, shops, and dispensaries in states that have legalized the drug, he significantly increased enforcement.

Just two years into his presidency, Obama’s administration had conducted about 150 such raids. The Bush administration conducted around 200 medical marijuana raids over eight years.

Heavy-handed policing and immigration raids often used to enforce immigration laws. In 2012, Obama administration deported more people than in any prior year in American history. Total 3 million deported.

Obama administration has defended the use of aggressive, militaristic police actions in court. In the case Avina v. U.S., DEA agents pointed their guns at an 11-year-old and a 14-year-old during a drug raid on the wrong house.

I was personally a victim of Obama's asset forfeiture and Byrne grants when I was raided by the FBI in 2012.
