Problematic things I heard in church. A thread.
At youth service:

Girls, you aren't pieces of meat. Don't put yourselves on display and then wonder why you're not treated well. Guys can't control themselves.

#religiousrapeculture
At a Sunday service:

Women, listen to me. You would never, and I mean never, put your child in a dirty bed. But that's exactly what you're doing when you have sex before marriage.

(He moved onto a different topic after, not addressing any of the men in the room)
Also at youth service:

Girls, you should never put yourselves in a situation where a guy can take advantage of you.

(and this is why it took me forever to realize what I had gone through was assault. I thought it had been my fault.)

#religiousrapeculture
Repeatedly at both the main and youth service:

Ladies, if you want respect you should dress respectably. Don't be a stumbling block to your brothers.

(because being horny is a sin. And only women can make men horny. Not the other way around)

#religiousrapeculture
At a special event held for the youth:

Guys and girls can never be platonic friends! You will inevitably develop feelings for each other!

(okay even then, I knew this wasn't true. Special mention : @Capital_JRG)
At a wedding (the bride and groom had already had one kid):

This will be a blessed union even if the foundations are dirty and rotten (referring to the fact that they had *gasp* slept together and had a kid already)
By a pastor:

Did they run out of fabric when they made your shirt? Your shirt can be a stumbling block.

The top in question:
All the time, everywhere:

Eve was made from the rib of Adam, so they were equals. But the man is the head of the family, and women should submit to their husbands.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of how the organized religion I had been a part of systemically upholds the #patriarchy and #rapeculture
