Yt folks romanticize the founding of Texas:
1)it wasn’t “The South”
2)it was its own nation
3)it was a rebel state

The truth: broke ass country hick white men didn’t like the taxes on cotton and wanted to copy systems in the SOUTH to make money for themselves = still slaves
Yts wanted land not in the US, so they came to MX and found that it was barely overseen by anybody.

They thought “this is great, we can do it up! Let’s get slaves and make some money, kick out all the natives and burn down Mexican homes. It’ll be great!

MX said: GET OUT.
They knew what they wanted. Too far away from MX and too far west for the US to do much with.

So don’t think all them white boys that are “legends” came for independence. Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett, Sam Houston, SLAVERS all of them.
And their plan worked:
the Civil War ended/announced, in 1763, guess how long that shit took to reach TX?

2 and half yrs.
Reason? Not enough Union in the state to enforce the Imancipation Proclamation.

So white people kept 250,000 Black People in chains for a bit longer
It was announced in my hometown, Galveston, TX in this fancy mansion- the Ashton Villa.

Known as General Order #3, it read:

“The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free.”

But wait...
It’s the last part- Here is the rest:

“The freedmen are advised to remain quietly at their present homes and work for wages. They are informed that they will not be allowed to collect at military posts and that they will not be supported in idleness either there or elsewhere.”
So the message to Black Gente?

US gov: congrats you free!

Also US gov: But keep working and tell your old owner he just now your boss and now he gotta pay you. OH! And don’t be homeless or a deadbeat.
My hope is that this #Juneteenth back home is either a super beautiful celebration or a protest to take down this awful confederate statue at the court house:
And one side note:

This piece of shit flag has always been posted with some fake sense of rebellion.

It is a direct representation of what this state was always about: Invasion and Slavery. It’s just as derogatory as the confederate flag.
Mexico aboliría la esclavitud en 1829. So when the yt kids arrived talking about “ we want to figure out new homes”, Mexico was like “pero, no chingen” - they even loaned them a few munitions at a settlement - present day Gonzales, TX in 1831.
But they were watching them.
As soon as “Texicans” said “we gonna make our own stuff!” And included slavery- Mexico said “nope, get out.”

Mexico’s second president was black. When Mexico celebrates el 16 de Sept. as it’s independence - it is also supposed to celebrate the abolishment of slavery.
The yts kept the canon after defeating MX troops in Gonzales.

This was the start of “Texas Independence” and slavery.

Any time you see this image it’s a direct “F**k You” to anyone of brown or black heritage. Don’t mistake it for anything else.

I said what I said.
