Hanji is not just a ‘crazy scientist’ used for ‘nothing but’ comedic purposes.
Despite Hanji’s excitable nature (of which, there is nothing wrong with) some of you continuously turn a blind eye to their determination to fight for humanity and obtain freedom, thus made clear in various panels, and it’s a real damn shame.
Not only that, they care, considerably, Hanji’s empathy and humanity is well in check and as such they deserve a lot more credit for that than they are given.
Let’s not forget how bad Hanji was hurting in this panel also, after losing Moblit. I feel Hanji’s pain gets ignored a lot as a result of this “continuously crazy/ eccentric” stereotype.
“And still, we must keep moving forward”. They know this pain, and have felt this pain repeatedly, but they know that they cannot stop. Hanji is a considerably determined character, and for that I greatly admire them.
We hear Levi touch on Hanji’s fighting spirit/determination in 126 “I know you, you aren’t one to stay out of the action” (something like that), Moblit discusses along similar lines also in the aot game. (Tis very cute haha)
It should be obvious, extremely obvious given their role in the story as of current and throughout, but Hanji has a shit load more value than what some of you make them out to have.
Give Hanji the respect they deserve and quit treating them as if they’re nothing but some damn ‘science clown’. That is all. Now, time for my adobo.
