It appears there's an interest in the @AFL from the USA. I've seen a few people ask "Who do i support" which is a valid question. It can be a tough choice, and supporting a team can really grow your interest in the game. So here's a summary @USAFL1997 1/9
Traditional Teams.

All the vic teams. The AFL is a widening of the old VFL to become a national comp. So if you're a fan of older, more historic clubs, Go for one of them. Sydney also count as they used to be Sth Melb, and Brisbane merged with struggling VFL side Fitzroy 2/9
The New sides: If you think, I'm new to this sport so i may as well pick a new side, well GWS and GC were both created as expansion clubs to help grow the game, around 2010. Counting Freo (95) here too, as they're also yet to win a Flag. 3/9
The "Big" Clubs. If you want to be part of something big than WCE, Collingwood, Rich, Essendon and Hawthorn are you go to clubs. Carlton is also a traditionally big side. 4/9
An underdog story: if you're attracted to the smaller guy, the club who needs extra fans, then there's plenty to choose from: Dogs, Saints, Freo, Port, Lions (outside their 3peat), Demons, have all sat proudly in the shadows of the bigger guys. 5/9
The modern Success sides. If you like watching your team win lots, the better more consistent sides over a long period since 1990s have been: WCE, Geelong, Hawthorn, Sydney. Collingwood are usually around the park and Richmond have dominated the last 5 years. 6/9
If you want a club that's got the most cups: Essendon, Carlton are your go, though be warned, both have been dreadful since 2005. Collingwood is close enough, too, so pick them. 7/9
Link to US: Collingwood currently have a Texan in Mason Cox. Former Pie Sav Rocca went to play NFL for the Eagles after his AFL career. Bennett played for the eagles before his 159 game Charger career. There's a few others on NFL lists now. 8/9
Or just go for Freo, like me. Given the timezones you've probably seen them lose twice this year, so you're already used to being a Freo Fan. 9/9
